COVID-19 Pandemic Response

October 16, 2020

SquareAlpha is dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment for our team, and to ensuring business continuity for our clients. Since the emergence of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) in late 2019, we have been preparing for the possibility of a pandemic.

We have already taken several additional steps. They include isolation of any personnel showing symptoms and those who have travelled to a restricted destination, increased sanitation measures at our office, health checks for staff, increased use of video conferencing, and cancellation of non-critical business travel.

These policies don’t change how we work with you. All services, including on-site support, are currently operating normally.

Keeping us informed

For existing clients, if anyone within your organisation is diagnosed with COVID-19 we ask that you inform us immediately so we can take appropriate steps. Information will be kept confidential.

Technology implications - how we can help you

Most businesses we have been in contact with are already making plans to prepare for a worsening of the pandemic. It is critical that you consider the ICT implications of this new situation.

We already have significant remote support capabilities at SquareAlpha, so any potential reduction in face-to-face contact will not have an impact on your services. However, there are now global shortages of parts and systems. This affects everything including spare parts, laptops, desktops, servers, and networking equipment. If you expect to need additional hardware in the near future, please let us know as soon as possible. We also recommend considering keeping at least one spare computer to keep your staff productive if a system fails.

Fortunately, today’s technology means that most organisations can allow staff to work remotely. Now is a good time to ensure your business has the flexibility and capability to withstand unexpected events like this. If not already in place within your business, SquareAlpha can rapidly deploy a range of remote work technologies to enable your business to survive this new environment. Greater use of cloud technologies, collaboration tools, video conferencing, and other technologies are all great ways to reduce risk and increase flexibility.

We'll be reaching out to all existing clients directly to discuss pandemic contingency plans. If you are not an existing SquareAlpha client and would like to discuss options, please contact us.

Next steps

Our contingency plans can be implemented quickly as developments occur. We are monitoring the situation closely, so we can adjust and communicate our policies as needed.
